Making use of little time & light

Today I had a day off to look after the kids (teacher training day), and planned to take them to play down the allotment (and get some digging done). Unfortunately the weather had a different idea and rained all morning and early afternoon. Popped down the shops to look for Mummy’s birthday present instead.

The day brightened later on so, as soon as my wife returned home from work, the boy and I headed down to make use of what light remained. We didn’t get much done; half a metre of one bed dug before the light started fading and the rain started threatening play. But at least it gets me a little closer.

The boy had a great time exploring the plot, even found himself a hand fork that the previous owner must have left behind.
