Acquired some free windows to make a greenhouse

Today I had a free couple of hours that I planned for digging.  It seems the days are rushing by and it’ll soon be spring.  This is worrying me as I’m only a third of the way through my plot, and I’ve had it for a couple of months already.

At the moment the weather is preventing me.  Every time a free moment presents itself it chucks it down, leaving the ground soggy and unworkable.  Today was no exception!

Rather than waste the couple of hours I had free, I decided to see if I could use the time to gather some materials that I’ll be needing over the coming months.

The first was a couple of pallets that had been sat in my neighbours garden for a couple of weeks (they are having an extension done).  So I knocked on the door and asked if I could have them.  “No problem.” he said.  These I quickly loaded on the roof rack.

Next was a set of windows that I’d seen outside a house on a nearby street.  It’s amazing what I spot now I have an allotment that I’d never even noticed before.  Pallets, I now notice, are everywhere!!.

Again knocked on the door:

“I’ve got my eye on them old windows for my allotment, would you mind if I took them?”
“Feel free, my wife has been nagging me to take them down the tip for over a year.”.
“Awesome! Thanks!”

Old Windows - Soon to be a greenhouseA few trips between the allotment and his house and I am now the proud owner of a set of double glazed windows and frames.
